At Chaddesley Corbett Primary, we are committed to ensuring that every child receives the support they need to thrive in their learning, feel confident among their peers, and achieve the best possible progress. Recognising that each child has unique needs that may impact their learning journey, we begin by providing High Quality First Teaching in every classroom. The Class Teacher plays a key role in tailoring tasks with appropriate scaffolding and using models to demonstrate concepts, ensuring that all children can engage with the learning and make progress. Children are supported to access our ambitious curriculum by using adaptive practices and responsive interventions. In some cases, children may require additional support to help them catch up with their peers. This support can be short-term or longer-term, and during this period, the child will be placed on our Additional Needs Register. We closely monitor their progress, assess their individual needs, and maintain regular communication with parents. We follow a Graduated Approach, which involves a cycle of assessing, planning, doing, and reviewing to ensure that the support provided is effective and appropriate for each child's needs.

The Additional Needs Register is a list of children who need extra help because they face challenges that affect their learning. With some children their area of difficulty is clear. With other children the actual difficulty is less clear, but because they are not making good progress, additional support needs to be put in place.
Children can be placed on the Additional Needs Register because they have difficulties in any of these areas:
Communication and Interaction
Cognition and Learning
Social, mental and emotional health
Sensory and/or Physical
There are different categories of need on the Additional Needs Register. They are called:
Pupil Voice The Code of Practice places pupils at the centre of the planning process. It states; 'Young people and their families should be involved in discussions about the support they need, so they can share their knowledge and feedback to the school on the young person's progress'
At Chaddesley, we feel it is important for the children to be involved in their education and want to include their thoughts and opinions. We make sure they are involved in what their next steps in learning are and have a say in how this is achieved. Wherever possible we involve children and families in the target setting process.
What are interventions?
Interventions are targeted programmes of support that provide a solution-focused approach to meeting needs at the earliest opportunity. The process involves the child, parents/carers, school staff and, at some levels, other professionals, working in partnership to get it right for every child. Intervention is designed to be flexible and allows for movement between stages depending on progress. They are grouped into the different areas of need, such as reading or maths. Some interventions are only offered in certain year groups, other interventions run across a wide range of ages.
Teachers and the SENDCo discuss which interventions would suit a particular child's needs and help them to make better progress. If we have not made it clear why your child is receiving an intervention, or what is happening, please contact your child’s class teacher or the SENDCo.
Staff Training and Expertise
All staff will have access to training, advice and resources to enable them to contribute to effective fully inclusive practice.
Complaints
The school's complaints policy is available on the website or at the school office. In the first instance, we would advise voicing any concerns to the Class Teacher or/and SENDCo. Following this, if issues are still not resolved, please make an appointment to see the Headteacher.
