Chaddesley Corbett Endowed Primary School Support for Families
Chaddesley Corbett Endowed Primary School (CCEPS) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Providing Early Help to our children and families at CCEPS means we are more effective in promoting support as soon as we can. Early Help means providing support as soon as a problem emerges, at any point in a child’s life, beginning with foundation stage. We endeavour to create a school ethos that promotes trust between all adults and children, so that all children know who they are able to talk to if they have any concerns or worries. At CCEPS, we believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
Early Help can support children a families who may be struggling with:
- Routines and family rules
- Families who may be not be eating healthy food
- Keeping to a healthy lifestyle
- Children who are caring for a family member
- Children who may not want to go to school for different reasons
- Disability within the family including children being a young carer
- Children in the family have special educational needs (SEND)
- Children who may becoming involved in anti-social or criminal behaviour
- Children who go missing from home
- Children or parents / carers misusing drugs or alcohol
- Children at risk of being tricked, forced, or made to work in the criminal world
- Children who may need support because they may live in a home and see drug or alcohol abuse or adult mental health problems.
- Children who have parents who argue a lot (and sometimes might hurt each other) whether the parents live together or apart.
- Children at risk of being groomed to join groups which support illegal views
- A privately fostered child (a child from another family living within your family home)
Everyone needs help at some time in their lives and therefore an ethos of Early Help Family Support is important for any school.
CCEP's Early Help Offer:
Within school we provide the following Early Help support for all children, striving to ensure concerns, no matter how small, are listened to and supported effectively, maximising the chances of effectively safeguarding all of our children:
Pastoral Lead: We have a Pastoral Lead, Danielle Bromage, who is able to offer targeted support to parents and carers, addressing a variety of concerns or difficulties. Support can be provided through face-to-face meetings, over the telephone and even via email – whatever method suits a parents’ circumstances best. Danielle offers termly coffee mornings where topics such as morning routines, sleep, toilet training and anxiety can be discussed. Danielle is able to provide support for parents and pupils in the home, as well as within the school environment Please contact Danielle through the school office if you feel she can be of help to you and your child. (01562 777312)
Speech and Language Support: We recognise that communication is both a vital and complex skill that develops gradually over time from the moment a child is born. It is important that children develop a firm foundation of earlier skills such as listening and playing so that they can successfully develop later skills such as using tricky sounds and spelling. At CCEPS, we have employed a Speech and Language Therapist, Katherine Mills, who works collaboratively with our staff, in order to identify, assess, and support children across the school. Katherine works Tuesday in the ARC and Wednesday in the Main School. Katherine can be contacted via the SENDCo Jayne Edwards through the school office (01562 777312)
Mental Head Leads: We have two Mental Heath Leads, Jayne Edwards and Lisa Flude, who have received the Mental Health training. They support staff to spot signs and symptoms of common mental health issues, provide non-judgemental support and reassurance, and if necessary guide the young person and their family to seek the professional support they may need to recover. Jayne and Lisa can be contacted via the school office (01562 777312)
Attendance: Every child whose attendance is below 93% is carefully monitored and support offered wherever possible, utilising the skills of the Attendance Lead, Jayne Edwards, where appropriate. Formal attendance meetings are held and improvements recognised. Please see the Attendance area of the website for further details. Jayne can be contacted via the school office (01562 777312).
PSHE and Relationships and Sex Education Programme: Our school delivers Personal, Social, Health and Economics, (PSHE) and Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) programmes through Discovery Education. This programme supports the children’s understanding of how to keep themselves safe. It also broadens their understanding of strategies to develop their resilience, as well as their awareness of their mental health and approaches to keep this aspect of their lives healthy.
Online safety: All children are taught online safety skills throughout the year, linking directly with areas of computing they are working on. Regular hints and tips to protect children online, relating to specific areas of interest for children such as Fortnite and Tik-Tok are shared with parents periodically. Our DSL, Camilla McGregor, is responsible for filtering and monitoring internet use in school.
Special Educational Needs: Our SENDCo, Jayne Edwards, runs a weekly drop-in for parents on Mondays - 8.30 - 9.30am and Tuesdays 2.30-4.00pm. Please drop in with any concerns or queries. For further information on special educational needs please see the Inclusion area of the website.
We also liaise with other agencies and people within the local community. Please find below details for some national organisations that can support children, young people and their families:
Local Services:
www.worcestershire.gov.uk/council-services/childrens-social-care/virtual-family-hub/harmony-homeEarly help means providing help and support to a child, young person or their family as soon as it is identified they need additional help and support. This could be at any point in a child or young person’s life for example in pregnancy right the way through to their eighteenth birthday. This can be help and support on more than one occasion as we know children’s needs change as they grow and develop, there is challenges in their communities and their family circumstances and situations can change too.

Bullying including Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying is using the internet, email, online games or any digital technology to threaten, tease, upset or humiliate someone else. If the police consider a message or post to be potentially criminal, they will take appropriate action. This could involve arresting the person responsible or interviewing them under caution. Cases involving sustained abuse or where someone’s life is threatened will be treated seriously. The police will consider all of the circumstances when considering the best response to a report of cyber bullying. They will assess how vulnerable the victim is and what resources are required to trace the offender via social networking sites that often operate abroad and to different legislation. In certain cases it may be difficult to take action if the offender isn’t in the UK. They will work with the victim to bring about the most suitable and proportionate conclusion, this will include alternative options that include the officer in the case using their discretion and working with the offender to record an apology to the victim.
If you are concerned your child or a child, you know is being bullied there are several services and useful links which can help you support your child as a parent.

As with other forms of criminality or risk of harm, early intervention is always preferable. Schools, working with other local partners, families and communities, can help support pupils who may be vulnerable as part of wider safeguarding responsibilities.
