Pupil Development and Leadership at Chaddesley Corbett
At Chaddesley Corbett Primary School personal development and leadership are well planned and embedded in our school life and curriculum. We believe it is key for children to gain skills, knowledge and understanding they need to lead healthy, independent lives and to become responsible citizens.
Our curriculum has been designed with our core values and British Values being at the forefront and are used to develop children’s personal attributes and attitudes such as self-confidence, resilience, leadership and self-discipline. At Chaddesley Corbett Primary School we believe in empowering our students to become active participants in shaping their school community. The Pupil Parliament is a cornerstone of this philosophy, providing a platform for our students to voice their ideas, concerns, and aspirations. Alongside class leadership, we have a variety of groups set up where children have been elected by peers using a democratic voting system. These young leaders are important for the direction of our school and the ever changing world around us. Our Pupil Parliament comprises a diverse group of student leaders, each serving in unique roles to contribute to the well-being and success of our school. Here's a glimpse into the responsibilities of each role: Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister: As the leaders of the Pupil Parliament, the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister work closely with the school administration and fellow ministers to coordinate initiatives, facilitate meetings, and represent the student body. Eco Ministers: Our Eco Ministers are passionate about promoting environmental sustainability within our school and community. From organising litter-picking initiatives to tending to our school garden, they lead efforts to cultivate a culture of environmental stewardship. Well-being Ministers: The Well-being Ministers are dedicated to supporting the mental and emotional well-being of our students. They organise well-being days and events, ensuring that every student feels supported and valued. Curriculum Ministers: With a focus on student voice, our Curriculum Ministers collaborate with subject leaders to discuss and improve the curriculum. They represent the perspectives and interests of their peers, ensuring that our educational programmes meet the needs of all students. Sports Ministers: Passionate about physical activity and sportsmanship, our Sports Ministers play a vital role in organising PE events and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle among their peers. Community Ministers: Our Community Ministers are actively engaged in serving the wider community through initiatives like RotaKids. With the support of teachers and local organisations, they contribute to important community projects while gaining valuable experiences in leadership and citizenship. Through their dedication and leadership, the members of our Pupil Parliament embody our values of pride of place, responsibility, and service. Together, they make a positive impact on our school and beyond, inspiring their peers to become active, engaged citizens. |
