At Chaddesley Corbett Primary School, we are dedicated to nurturing the personal development of every child, ensuring they are equipped with the skills, values, and knowledge needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. We are committed to creating a nurturing environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Through a holistic approach to personal development, we endeavour to empower children to become confident, responsible, and compassionate members of society, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the future.
Curriculum Subjects and Extra-Curricular Activities: We integrate learning in RE, and other areas such as personal, social, health, and economic education (PSHE), and relationships and sex education (RSE) into our curriculum. Our Discovery for RE programme covers all requirements of the Worcestershire syllabus, emphasising tolerance and understanding of other faiths. Additionally, our RSHE curriculum addresses important topics such as consent, healthy friendships, diversity, and coping with change. Through a range of after-school clubs and lunchtime activities, including drama, knitting and sports, we offer opportunities for students to explore their interests and develop essential life skills.
Development of Responsible Citizens: We foster a sense of responsibility, respect, and active citizenship among our students through various initiatives. Our Pupil Parliament, led by ministers representing different areas of school life, encourages student involvement in decision-making processes and community projects. Programmes such as Rota Kids and involvement in local community events instil a sense of service and social responsibility from an early age.
Promotion of Fundamental British Values: Fundamental British values are embedded throughout our curriculum and align with our school values and ethos. We cover concepts of such as democracy and law through subjects like history and promote individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance in other curriculum areas such as PSHE, RE and in our wider curriculum such as assemblies and liaison with outside agencies. Recognition and celebration of these values are reinforced through rewards and assemblies, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect for all.
Promotion of Equality and Inclusion: We promote equality of opportunity and celebrate diversity within our school community. Our curriculum and activities encourage understanding and acceptance of individual differences, with dedicated events such as Well Being Days which foster awareness and appreciation of protected characteristics. We ensure an inclusive environment where all students feel valued and supported, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Character Development and Well-being: We prioritise the development of positive personal traits and virtues, nurturing children's character and resilience. Our school values of ambition, pride of place, service, integrity and individuality, including our behaviour expectations of 'ready, respectful safe,' shape our work and provide a set of core values that support the personal characters of our pupils. Through regular well-being days, pastoral support, and inclusive pedagogical practices, we empower students to reflect, learn, and cooperate effectively with others. Our RSHE curriculum and support services promote mental health awareness and equip students with strategies for maintaining emotional well-being.
Safety Awareness and Healthy Lifestyles: We educate students about online and offline risks to their well-being and provide support mechanisms to ensure their safety. Our curriculum covers topics such as online safety, substance misuse, and healthy relationships, while additional teaching opportunities such as assemblies from the police and lessons to supplement the curriculum address broader safety concerns. We promote physical health through a variety of activities, including sports clubs, outdoor learning, and health education programmes. Preparation for Future Transitions: We support children in readiness for their next phase of education, fostering partnerships with secondary schools to facilitate smooth transitions. Transition programmes, including close links with partner schools, ensure children are equipped for success in their future endeavours.
