Eco Schools is an international Award Scheme guiding schools on their journey towards sustainability. Its framework helps to embed sustainable principles into school life.
There are 3 levels of award- bronze, silver and the Green Flag. We currently hold the Green Flag and have for 6 years.
Our Eco-Schools Committee is elected each year with a representative from each year group. We meet regularly and have been recently drawing up our new action plan. We hold assemblies to inform the whole school of our activities, run competitions and themed weeks throughout the year.
The nine topics allow the Eco Committee lead the rest of the school in being the best Eco school we can.
We all had great fun re using and recycling our old books and getting the chance to choose a new book. Oct 15
Sharing ideas with another school- Nov 15
We were very lucky to have the Eco Committee from St Catherine's visit us this term. We shared ideas, took them for a tour of our fantastic school and discussed ways in which we could work together to become better eco schools. It was nice for the children to talk about their experiences and share ideas.
OUR ECO COMMITTEE
Eco Day- Oct 15
The whole school took part in Eco day, with a variety of fun activities on offer. All children spent time in our forest school area making damper bread, we had a poster competition, Early Years made bird feeders and a recycled alien called Mr Maker. Other activities included making a bug hotel, making water butts and doing some rubbish sorting. We all took part in a 30 minute makeover of our school and a 1 mile run, to keep us fit and healthy. There were lots of smiles throughout the day and great fun was had by all. We hope you enjoy the photos!
OUR NEW OUTDOOR LEARNING AREA
We are very lucky to have a new garden built by Gro Organic. This includes us having raised beds, a clay oven, and a fantastic outdoor learning area. Year 5 and 6 have spent time planting a variety of vegetables and plants. Go and take a look!!!!!
